Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
