The Details Known About the Fatalities of the Bondi Shooting

A minimum of 16 people lost their lives and in excess of 40 were hurt when attackers fired on a Hanukah celebration at Bondi Beach, a tragedy local police have labeled a act of terrorism.

Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, as stated by his wife.

She told the events before the attack, explaining they were standing when the gunfire erupted. “He shielded me because he wished to be near me,” she said.

The pair were both Holocaust survivors, having faced unspeakable terror in their childhood. They had subsequently relocated to Australia from Ukraine.

Dan Elkayam

French authorities have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is a casualty.

Officially, the Foreign Minister declared that France mourned with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.

Those Injured

From the 42 people taken to hospitals, a significant number remain under care, with a number in a critical state. The injured comprise two police officers who attended the scene.

One of the injured is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the attackers. Hailed as a hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.

Arsen Ostrovsky

Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. It has been reported he was wounded and is receiving treatment in hospital.

Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was another casualty in the attack. He said he heard “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.

“I thought it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I sustained a gunshot wound. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
