The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

This latest animated series, the newest animated series from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening appears amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the song choice.

The intro employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song created by artist the talented musician. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second release released by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I suspect that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by musician the artist, was an instant classic in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have some changes and differences from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its opening seems to be one of them.

This animated adventure will be available to watch on Prime Video from Nov. 19. For those eager until then, or want a head start to learn about the characters of the second series, the original episodes are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
